Moisés D Irizarry-Román, MD, is a Board-Certified Family Medicine and Sports Medicine Physician. He received his Medical Degree from Universidad Central del Caribe, School of Medicine in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. He then completed his Residency at Hospital Universitario Ramón Ruiz Arnau, subsequently joining University of Mississippi, School of Medicine to follow his passion, training in Sports Medicine.
Before moving into private practice, Dr Irizarry-Román was the head of Mercy Hospital Sports Medicine, in Miami Florida. Dr Irizarry-Román has written several medical articles featured in Crossfit’s Box Life magazine. He is a consultant for Univisión’s ‘Noticias Univisión Edición Nocturna’ (nightly news) and ‘Mira Quién Baila’ (Spanish dancing competition TV show) and also as medical expert witness for Telemundo’s ‘Caso Cerrado’ (people’s court Spanish TV show).
Over the years he has been known in the CrossFit community as The BoxDoc, where he has covered multiple major CrossFit events (Summer Crush Games, WODapalooza, Clash of the Fittest and Pantheon Games). As a Sports Physician dedicated to the community, Dr Irizarry-Román has served as the team physician for the Mississippi Braves, Dixie Rodeo, Gulliver Schools, Carrolton, Miami FC and the Puerto Rico Islanders.
He has become an expert in Stem Cell Medicine in the last 8 years, and has been treating patients with multiple musculoskeletal conditions, seeing improvement in their condition and return to activity.
Dr Irizarry-Román is presently the Medical Director of NO MERCY Sports Medicine based in Miami, FL.
