Telomeres and the Technology Elite’s Scientific Effort to Living Forever
Some of the biggest names in the tech world are backing medical initiatives to help catapult the way healthcare uses technology, and it may end up improving not just the lifespans of humans for generations to come, but also the quality of life into the later years. Big names like Jeff Bezos (Amazon), Peter Thiel (Paypal), Sergey Brin and Larry Page (Google founders) are putting big money into health ventures that use Artificial Intelligence and the most breakthrough technologies to improve healthcare services. Part of that effort involves increasing research into telomere testing.
Telomeres – the “caps” at the end of each strand of DNA. Telomeres get shorter each time a cell copies itself. Because our cells copy themselves throughout our lives, the telomeres eventually get very short, and our cells cannot regenerate: we get old.
