Adult men in the United States are losing Testosterone every year, one of the most important hormones for a healthy male, responsible for many essential functions in the body. Studies show a consistent decrease year over year in male testosterone levels in the United States.

This trend can result in men having Low Testosterone.

Why is this happening?

We’ll go over some of the many factors that may be causing this downward trend.

Lack of Sleep

Lack of sleep is one of the main causes of low-testosterone, since the stress of staying awake can disrupt the encodrine system by increasing the levels of cortisol, and decreasing testosterone production.

An estimated 35.5% of men in the United States get less than the recommended 7-8 hours of sleep, according to the CDC.

Sedentary Lifestyle

An approximately 60% of adults in the United States are not participating in the amount of physical activity recommended by the CDC. Also among adults in the United States, 25% are not active at all.

Poor Nutrition

Poor nutrition is also among the reasons men can experience low testosterone. A diet of processed foods, sugars, fried foods, junk food, soda, and other unhealthy foods can contribute low testosterone.

Medical Conditions

Medical conditions that affect testosterone production can include cancer, too much iron in the body, among others.
